Stop putting all your junk out back into your wooden shed and start making it into something more useful – convert it into living space. There are lots of different uses you can get out of wooden sheds. For instance, convert it into an artist studio or into your own wood workshop. They really are as versatile as they are practical.
You will have to start with a clean slate. Once you have everything removed from your wooden shed, make sure all the corners are vacuumed and that there is no more debris left inside.
Wooden sheds have exposed studs on the inside and you can use this to your advantage. If you don’t see any signs of insects or rot, brush on a light stain or water sealant to really make your wood more beautiful. A light stain on the wood will give the space a comfortable feel.
Adding paint is also an option as well. You should use a primer on bare wood first. You’ll use much less paint and get better results. Stick with lighter colors to give the illusion of more space.
If your shed is on a skid, or wooden floor, follow the same steps as described in the paragraph above. On the other hand, if you have a foundation made from concrete, either leave it or you can choose to stain it. Revitalizing old worn concrete surfaces by staining them is a great solution. The floor area in wooden sheds is small enough that you should be able to handle it but its best to use a professional.
Make sure you clean, prime and paint the outside of the wooden shed also. Fill in any spaces or cracks with caulk to keep water out. It may be fine to have some moisture come in for storage purposes but not for a space that is intended as livable.
Now that you have completed the shell, the fun part really begins. Add your own personal touches to the space depending on what you intend to use it for. A great starting point is to add the more permanent items like shelves and pegboards.
